Geobacillus sp. Y412MC61 is part of the Obsidian Hot Spring Community from Yellowstone. Other organisms found with it include - Alicyclobacillus sp., Dictyoglomus turgidum, Geobacillus sp. Y412MC52, Hydrogenobaculum strain Y04AAS1, Sulfolobus solfataricus 98/2, Sulfurihydrogenibium sp. Y03AOP1 and Thermareobacter sp. Y412MC57.
