What's New in 4.0

Take a peek below for some of the exciting new features available with the JGI Genome Portal version 4.0! If you are new to the portal, you might also want to check out the new features from our previous release here.

Synteny
The Genome portal 4.0 Introduces a major new tool to aid comparative genomic analysis. The Synteny viewer allows you to analyze whole-genome pairwise DNA alignments of JGI organisms across all levels of resolution from chromosomal rearrangement down to base-pair alignments. Loci on both reference and compared genomes in the alignment can be navigated independently and in the context of JGI gene model tracks. The Synteny tool also contains a fully interactive dot plot viewer.
The synteny viewer is available as a stand-alone tool as well as appearing as a tab in genome portals for which alignments have been calculated.
Detailed help is available for the Synteny viewer here.

Genome Search
Now it's easier then ever to find the genome you are looking for! Use the new "Genome Search" bar at the top of the Tree of Life page to search for genome portals by keyword, organism name, NCBI taxon id, or JGI project id. Detailed help is available for genomeSearch here.

Upload and share Wiggle tracks
The Upload Custom Tracks feature can now be used to upload wiggle tracks for display in the JGI Genome Browser. Click on the MyTracks icon in the JGI header to specify display options for your custom tracks and share them with your colleagues! (Note: you must be logged in with your JGI username in order to use custom tracks features).
Detailed help about uploading and managing custom tracks is available here.
